Al Lopus

CoFounder & Board Chair

Al Lopus is the Co-founder and Board Chair of Best Christian Workplaces (BCW). With a passion for Christ-centered workplace cultures, Al believes Christian organizations should set the standard as the best and most effective places to work in the world.

He co-founded BCW in 2002 to equip Christian leaders with research-based tools and consulting that help build Flourishing Workplace^TM cultures. Since then, more than 2,000 Christian-led organizations have participated in BCW’s Employee Engagement Survey. Al also developed BCW’s Leadership360, a tool that has helped thousands of leaders strengthen their influence and impact.

A recognized author, speaker, and consultant, Al wrote Road to Flourishing: Eight Keys to Boost Employee Engagement and Well-Being, answering the question, “What makes a flourishing workplace?” For a decade, he hosted The Flourishing Culture Leadership Podcast, featuring insights from hundreds of Christian leaders who have transformed their workplace cultures.

Before founding BCW, Al spent 21 years in leadership with the global consulting firm Willis Towers Watson. Guided by a missionary’s heart, God led him to co-found the Nicolás Fund for Education (NFE) in 2012, which helps rural children in Guatemala break the cycle of generational poverty. He continues to serve as NFE’s Board Chair and President. Al also serves on the boards of National Christian Foundation Northwest, Covenant Living Communities and Services, and the Christian Leadership Alliance Advisory Board.

Al and his wife, Kathy, live on Mercer Island, Washington. They have two daughters and two grandchildren. He attends Encounter Church and enjoys deep conversations over coffee, outdoor hikes, and seeing organizations flourish.
