Al Lopus

CoFounder & Board Chair

Al Lopus is the Cofounder and Board Chair at Best Christian Workplaces (BCW). He has undisguised zeal for Christ-based workplace cultures and believes Christian workplaces should set the standard as the best, most effective places to work in the world.

He cofounded BCW in 2002 to provide Christian organizations with research-based measurement tools and consulting services that catalyze the creation of flourishing workplace cultures. Since that time, over 350 churches and more than 1,200 Christian-led organizations have participated in BCW’s Employee Engagement Survey, reaching over 300,000 full-time employees around the world.

Al is a recognized author, speaker, and consultant. His book, Road to Flourishing: Eight Keys to Boost Employee Engagement and Well-Being, digs into the question: what makes a flourishing workplace? Al hosts BCW’s podcast, The Flourishing Culture Leadership Podcast, featuring experiences from expert Christian leaders who have successfully improved their organization’s cultures.

Al is excited for your organization to benefit from BCW’s services and to grow towards becoming a flourishing Christian workplace.

Prior to BCW, Al served 21 years in leadership with the global human resource consulting firm, Willis Towers Watson. He has also served on the boards of Christian Leadership Alliance and Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. Al has a missionary’s heart. God guided him to cofound the Nicolás Fund for Education (NFE), helping rural children in Guatemala break the cycle of poverty, and he chaired the NFE board for 7 years.

Al is married to Kathy and together they have two daughters, Lane and Christina, and one grandchild. Al is an active member at Evergreen Covenant Church in Mercer Island, Washington. He enjoys deep thinking, conversations over a cup of hot tea, and outdoor hikes.
