A leader's metrics can be climbing, the board can be pleased, and the mission can be moving forward — while underneath, the soul is quietly eroding. About This Episode
Leaders will learn to recognize the early, often-missed signs that a soul is depleted — persistent fatigue, resentment, lost passion — long before those signs become a crisis. This matters because external success can mask internal erosion for years, and by the time it surfaces, the cost is often steep for the leader, their family, and their organization. The episode offers a shift from "rest enough to get back to baseline" toward leading out of genuine overflow, with a simple framework — a page, a person, a plan — leaders can act on immediately. Mindy brings both decades of ministry and organizational experience and her own history of physical collapse from ignoring these same symptoms.
Episode Highlights
05:59: Why organizations don't notice soul erosion — because "if everything looks fine on the outside, we assume everything is fine on the inside"
08:53: Mission and soul care aren't opposites to balance — the real problem is treating them as if they were
17:58: The predictable warning signs of a depleted soul — fatigue that sleep doesn't fix, resentment, and simply feeling "done"
25:42: The real difference between recovering to baseline and leading out of overflow
36:42: A simple framework for leaders ready to act — a page, a person, and a plan
